Landsharks Spring Track Series

Landsharks is a non-competitive youth program designed to introduce running to young athletes in a safe, fun environment. Our focus is on having fun, competing against yourself to improve your own skill, being an encouraging teammate, and making new friends.

The Spring Track Series is a six-week school program led by a PE Teacher and/or parent volunteers and is open to students in kindergarden through 6th grade.

Practices are scheduled at least once per week, before or after school, and last approximately 45 minutes. Practices mainly consist of running games and track workouts with a strong focus on fun. Runners train in ability groups with peers and move up to the next group based on race results.

The spring series includes three Monday night track meets, held at high school and middle school tracks, and last for approximately 90 minutes.

  • Two middle-distance meets - Runners in grades K-2 participate in either the 400m or 800m; Grades 3-6 run either 800m or one mile.
  • One sprint night - Grades K-2 participate in both 50m & 200m; 3rd - 6th grades run 100m & 400m.

Runners receive race numbers, ribbons, refreshments and a series medal. Results are posted on our results page following each race. Parents and High School Athletes volunteer as race officials.
